Is Swift A Good Car? Let’s Find Out The Truth

By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of Swift, let us revisit the benchmark of the sports hatchback.

Ride Quality of Swift:For those who love driving, Swift is the most cost-effective choice in the B segment. Its driving dynamic is far better than most of the Cars available in India and best in its class. Which means it’s a "fun to drive" car. Check out any comparison videos or review, all of them prove one point that "the Swift is with superior driving pleasure". Although second-generation Swift was a bit softer than the sporty original, the new, stiffer, lighter chassis still makes itself quite apparent in how well it holds things together in corners. The suspension, too, is well judged, with body movements being decently contained.

Swift Exterior: Maruti Swift’s success over the last decade is unprecedented. In the 12 years of its existence, Maruti has sold over 1.7 million units, which is phenomenal for a sporty hatch. As a benchmark for sport hatchbacks, the exterior of Swift has become a classic. Based on the previous generation, Swift added a blackened C-pillar and hidden door handles which makes it looks even more stylish and sportier.

Swift Petrol & Diesel mileage: As per ARAI, the mileage of Maruti Suzuki Swift Automatic Transmission Petrol Variant is 18 kmpl. However, Maruti Suzuki Swift Road Test on highway gave a mileage of 20 kmpl for Petrol. Fuel capacity of this hatchback is 37 litres. The result is at the average level in this segment which is not bad.

Swift Ground Clearance: Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with a ground clearance of 163 mm that makes the balance between passability through a rough road, which is quite important in India, and the support and handling in the corner.

Swift Specification & Features:

Gear Box:

The swift has four powertrain combinations. The engines are as we know them, but they feel a bit punchier in this new Swift, because of the lowered weight. The Suzuki K-series engine is obviously the best all-rounder of the 1.2-litre NA engine on sale right now. And both of the gearboxes are great. 5-speed manual gearbox is with short and snappy shifts, accompanied by a light clutch, which created for driving lovers. The five-speed AMT with petrol engine would work well in traffic. At low speeds, it works like ‘an automatic’, with surprisingly smooth and timely shifts.

Swift Safety: Recently, the global NCAP has given Maruti Suzuki Swift an adult protection rating of 2 stars. As part of the "Indian Safety Car" campaign, GNCAP released crash test results for Maruti Suzuki Swift. The results were quite disappointing. According to GNACP, Swift has failed on adult safety. The report also further stated that the bodyshell on the Swift is unstable and is unable to withstand heavy impacts. Although Swift is in B-segment, that result is still quite unacceptable.

Swift Interior: In low variants, it misses out on features like the touchscreen, navigation, voice command and LED day-time-running-lights comparing to higher ones. And to be honest, Swift, is smaller than some other cars in this segment, which means the rear seat and boot are smaller than its competitors. One of the reasons is that the roofline drops away toward the rear, which makes the front seat got better headroom. The boot is at 242 litres with the seats up, and a surprisingly small 556 litres while the seats down, which is not enough if you spend lots of time on lugging objects around.

Swift Dimensions (length/width/height):

Maruti Suzuki Swift dimensions 3840 mm in length, 1735 mm in width and 1530 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2450 mm. Because of its size, its space is not an advantage to the Swift, which is a bit smaller than its rivals such as the Baleno or i20.

Swift Colours:

Maruti Swift is available in 6 different colours - Silky silver, Solid Fire Red, Pearl Arctic White, Magma Grey, Midnight Blue, Prime Lucent Orange. The choices of colours are less than its competitors.

Owner Reviews:

Most car owners don't feel that their Swift is out of date, they are very satisfied with their car, especially in terms of driving fun and practicality.  Actually, Maruti Suzuki is a name that needs no introduction. This company has been providing the Indian population with automobiles from the day that we can imagine. Maruti Suzuki is known for offering cars at real affordable prices just like the Swift. In fact, the 2019 model of the Maruti Suzuki ARENA Swift was awarded the Indian Car of the Year 2019 Award. With this, Swift becomes the only car in history to win this award thrice.
