After years of consideration, the South-Korean carmaker, Hyundai, has decided to bring back the SUV to fill the blank between Creta and Santa Fe. Here comes the Tucson, which has made its entry in the Indian SUV market with lots of new things. The brand-new Hyundai Tucson SUV now is available in five trims: MT, AT GL, AT GL (O), AT GLS and 4WD AT GLS. Hyundai has used its Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 Design Philosophy to design Tucson, just like Creta and Elantra. Some of Hyundai Tucson features are first in the segment and the Tucson 2020 will be coming soon, with more beautiful and modern exteriors and interiors.
Engine and Transmission
Hyundai Tucson has two kinds of gearboxes for its engines. The R 2.0 L CRDi diesel engine is capable of a maximum 185 ps at 4,000 rpm and 40.8 kg∙m torque at 1,750 ~ 2,750 rpm, while the Nu 2.0 MPi best-in-class petrol engine gets a maximum 155 ps at 6,200 rpm and 19.6 kg∙m torque at 4,000 rpm with high fuel efficiency.
Steering and Handling
The diesel variant of Hyundai Tucson is very nice and smooth but lacks a bit of power during mid revs because the car has almost reached its maximum power. And the petrol one has done a great job as well and the gear ratio feels good. With its It responsive steering wheel and nimble handling, Tucson can be driven effortlessly and comfortably on the roads.
According to the parameters on Hyundai’s official website, for the diesel engine, the automatic transmission has a fuel efficiency of 16.38 kmpl while the manual gets 18.42kmpl. The petrol variant with automatic gearbox is 12.95 kmpl and the manual one is 13.03 kmpl.

In terms of dimensions, Tucson sits between Creta and Santa Fe. The overall appearance of Tucson makes you feel strong and bold. Look at the big liner front grill and the sharp headlights, all these elements give me a sense of ruggedness and lustiness. The whole design, no matter from the front, profile or rear, makes this car taller and sturdier than you look.

The 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is set between two AC outlets and paired with four speakers and a couple of tweeters. Like the Elantra, Tucson also provides Arkaym, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for its customers.
Thanks to its size and well-designed interiors, Tucson can easily have three adults sit at the rear with good knee room. When there are less than five people in the car, you can lay down the middle seatback as an armrest. What’s more, the rear seat can be reclined as well.

For me, the Hyundai Tucson gives me a very deep impression. It offers many versions with powerful powertrains and great driving experience. Although the fuel consumption is not so good, you need to think about its engines and this is nothing serious to complain. Good-looking design with curvy and angular elements makes it robust but mild. The interiors are really comfortable and the features Tucson provides are useful.
