Overall Information
Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago have long become a pair of main competitors. The Hyundai Santro is one of the basic entry models for hatchback in the Indian market. And the Tata Tiago has adopted some fresh set of features and new design updates. So, we will launch a comparison between them from the parameters of Ride Quality, Safety, On-Road Price, Exterior, Interior, Dimensions, Colours, Specifications & Features, Mileage, and Ground Clearance.
Ride Quality
- Hyundai Santro
For Hyundai Santro, it is an easy-to-drive hatchback. It is very suitable to drive the Santro in the city with light steering, light control, light clutch and smooth gearbox. However, the Santro doesn' t offer the adjustable, high-set front driver seats, which could be a big problem that would keep bothering you when on a long-term trip. Another problem is the high-speed performance of Santro is unstable.
- Tata Tiago
If the Hyundai Santro is a car for city, then the Tata Tiago is a competent car for highway. It is loaded with a BS6 compliant 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which can power out a max power of 84 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a max torque of 113 Nm @ 3300 rpm. The cabin is quiet when at the speed of 80 or above. Generally, the highway rides for Tiago is perfectly smooth and comfortable.
On road price in New Delhi (some cities prices are lower than this)
- Hyundai Santro on road price:
Hyundai Santro launches a price range from ₹ 5.13 Lakhs to ₹ 7.05 Lakhs, covering 11 available variants. 7 variants are equipped with the manual gearbox while the rest 4 are equipped with the automatic gearbox.

As for Tata Tiago, it starts its price at ₹ 5.15 Lakhs and reaches its peak price at ₹ 7.47 Lakhs. The Tiago is only available in 8 variants: 5 are equipped with manual transmission and the rest are loaded with automatic transmission.
The price positioning of these two hatchbacks are extremely close to each other. But the Hyundai Santro offers 3 more available variants than the Tiago, which is a small advantage since you will have more room for consideration.

Interior
- Hyundai Santro interior:
Inside the Hyundai Santro, it is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen on the centre console. There are several manual buttons under the screen for media control. The overall fit and finish of the interior are good. The quality of Santro feels very good for a hatchback in this segment, and with the materials, it even feels like a segment above. The cabin is quite spacious but the legroom is quite compact.
- Tata Tiago interior:
The overall interior quality of Tata Tiago is not as good as the Hyundai Santro. However, compared with its previous version, the Tiago did make some improvements. Conclusion:
It is very hard to tell which one is better since both the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago are good hatchbacks for the entry level segment. Since they have the similar price range with each other, the budget problem could be neglected. So, considering the value for money, I would suggest you to go for the Hyundai Santro. I am not saying the Tiago is not good, but after the comparison from the above parameters, the Hyundai Santro gets a slightly better price to performance ratio.
