The Not-So-SUV Designed Mahindra NuvoSport Feels Valuable

Review

Nowadays the compact SUV market, not only in India but also in the whole world, is having a cruel fight. For example, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Ford and other competitive automakers are leading in the SUV battle. And now, Mahindra is also becoming a part of it, the NuvoSport is one of the good fighters from Mahindra. Priced at about ₹ 7.97 - 10.50 Lakh in New Delhi and with its rugged look, what other things can the Mahindra NuvoSport give us?

Driving Performance

Engine and Transmission

Now the Mahindra NuvoSport has offered six variants for consumer and they all use the same 1.5L mHAWK100 Diesel Engine with 2-Stage Turbocharger with a 5-Speed Manual or a 5-Speed AMT gearbox. The engine can deliver a top power of 74.6 kW (100 bhp) @ 3750 rpm and torque of 240 Nm @ 1600 - 2800 rpm.

Steering and Handling

Thanks to Mahindra’s well-known mHAWK engine, it can produce sufficient power and torque on the road. Nevertheless, the transmission sometimes gives me a sense of hesitation. And on the rough roads, the suspension of the NuvoSport performs very well, it is able to handle bumps and other barriers in a brilliant way.

Mileage

The fuel consumption of the Mahindra NuvoSport is estimated at 17.34 kmpl.

Design

When it comes to the compact SUV design, we are almost talking about a sturdy and strong look. But for the Mahindra NuvoSport, as we can see in the picture, its A-pillar is a little bit curvy and this seems not so integrated on the whole vehicle. Also, its rear, the C pillar, makes the car look like a hatchback style. For other things, it’s an SUV.

Tyre

※Tubeless Radials, 215/65, 40.6 cm (R16)

Interior

Dashboard

The dashboard is well-design compared with other rivals in the segment and the functions are useful enough for your daily life. Whereas, frankly speaking, I don’t like the design of the central AC vents, especially the shape, it looks very weird.

Space

As the replacement of the Quanto, the NuvoSport gets the same interior layout and size, which allow you to enjoy a spacious cabin. The driver can have a wide vision thanks to the big windscreen. The rear seats have good support and ample knee room, they can be reclined as well.
