Engine and Transmission

The new Wagon R provides a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K10B and a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K12M petrol engine and both are available with manual as well as AMT gearbox. The 1.0L version can deliver 68hp @ 5500 rpm and 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm while the 1.2L one has 83hp @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4200 rpm.

Steering and Handling

The flexible steering of the new Wagon R gives me a great comfort even I am trapped in terrible traffic situations in the city but it’s still a little bit vague. The car offers a brilliant suspension system, McPherson Strut type suspension at the front and the torsion beam at the back and both of them are supported with coil spring leaded suspension system. In addition, the 14-inch tyres and a turning radius of 4.7 meters help me handle well in Indian city roads. Nevertheless, the new stiffer chassis, wider tyres and the relatively softer suspension setup don’t make me feel better than the predecessor on the road. Especially the suspension is softer, which can give you a more comfortable driving experience on the rough road conditions while such setup is not suitable for sharp turns.



The authoritative fuel efficiency from ARAI is about 20.52 to 32.52 kmpl, which is a good data for a car like this. The 1-litre petrol engine is 20.52 kmpl while the 1.2-litre one is 21.79 and the CNG variant is 32.52 kmpl.

The new appearance of the fresh Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 gets an angular and sturdy body design with a tallboy style. Thanks to the wider body, Suzuki has given the new Wagon R a flatter face, which means the driver now can get a larger view than before. And the standard chrome grille makes the car look good. The rear part of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 also gets a new design, a new tailgate combined with the fresh taillights, which look unique.
